Wagga Wagga Urban Landcare GroupWe’ve passed the 10 year milestone and celebrated our anniversary in 2004. Our origins go back to a public meeting convened to discuss urban salinity, and we’ve never looked back. We began with the focus on saline water-tables and emerging damage to the city’s recreational areas, roads, and infrastructure.
Wiradjuri Track Clearing (larger image) Today we’re into anything that takes us in the direction of leaving smaller footprints. There’s something for each of us in our very diverse group, of many backgrounds, ages and interests. We foster wetlands, get our hands dirty in plantings and weed control, undertake riparian restoration, encourage birdlife and mammal biodiversity, we’ve a great squirrel glider project at North Wagga flats, we’re right into waste minimization, water-wise gardens, and we still do our salinity tours. The National Museum of Australia has just highlighted our achievements! We enjoy great support from the Wagga Wagga City Council, and the Murrumbidgee Catchment Management Authority. Local media backed us when times were tough!……we thank our sponsors in the early days and welcome our new sponsors in the happy work we have in front of us. Join us! Receive our newsletters! Come to our activities! Sponsor us! Or just read about what we do! and before you go – why not see our photo-gallery.
